1. It is usual to have bloody drainage from the nose and down the back of the throat for the first several days postoperatively. Often times a dry gauze dressing taped under the nose will catch the drainage and help prevent the need for frequently wiping the nose. The dressing can be changed as often as necessary.

2.Your nose will be congested (stuffy) for several weeks postoperatively. If cautery of the turbinates is done, this can prolong the period of congestion.

3. Packing may be placed in the nose during surgery; this is removed 1-3 days postoperatively.

4.Do not blow your nose until 10 days postoperatively; then blow it only gently.

5. Avoid any heavy physical activity until 10-14 days postoperatively.

6. Use hypertonic saline rinse (available in pharmacy; Neil Med/Ayr) beginning 2 days postoperatively or after the packing is removed.

7.Call for any:

8.Call for an appointment in our office 2 days postoperatIvely if packing is in place; if not, call for an appointment one week post surgery.
